Day 10 Giveaway - Thirty One Basket and Kentucky Crafted Ornaments

Welcome to Day 10 of our “12 Days of Giving” here on the “More from Lexington Family” blog.

Here’s how it works. Every day from now until December 13 we will feature a different giveaway here on the blog and we’ll also give your family a great idea for giving back in our community.

All you have to do is use the Rafflecopter widget to enter the giveaway. You can earn more than one entry for each giveaway. Just scroll down to enter.

We’ll start the giveaways around 9 a.m. every day, and announce the winner at 9 a.m. the next day. Prizes will be available at the Lexington Family office at 138 E. Reynolds Rd., Ste 201. Gift card prizes can be mailed, but larger prizes must be picked up.

GIVEAWAY

Today’s big prize comes from Laurie Dorough at 31 Gifts. This is something I have coveted a long time. It’s called the Small Magazine Basket but it is NOT small at all. This thing will store a whole lot of stuff. The bar at the top is removable so you can slide a roll of paper towels onto it, or ribbons rolls, or even 2 toilet paper rolls.

I want this basket for my back porch where I’d put a roll of paper towels on the spindle and loads of sunscreen and hand sanitizer in the basket for the summer (yes, I’m thinking ahead here).

So many uses! Store your bows, ribbons and other gift-wrapping supplies. It’s even great in the kitchen for keeping utensils, cookbooks, oven mitts, etc. It’s also perfect for bath and beauty supplies. You can even personalize the handle with laser etching!

Inside the basket Laurie has included two really cute reusable fabric snowman gift bags. Perfect for those hard to wrap gifts.

If you’d like to see more that Laurie offers check out her website:Laurie's 31 site

Also inside the basket I have tucked two gorgeous Kentucky Crafted turned-wood ornaments from K and M Crafts.

The first is an Heirloom Cedar Dove Christmas Ornament made of aromatic red cedar that has a beautiful range of color highlights that vary from deep purples, reds, chocolates and even creams. The dove has always been a symbol of peace, but during the Christmas season it also takes on a meaning of friendship and benevolence.

The second is a Nativity Window Ornament with Mary, Joseph and Baby Jesus carved in the “window” of a turned wood ornament.

You can see more of these heirloom ornaments at: K & M Crafts

GIVING BACK

I’ve got two opportunities for you to give back today.

Salvation Army

While the Angel Tree has wound down for the year, the Salvation Army is still looking for help feeding needy families. Choose a star off the Angel Food Tree at Kroger to purchase a $25 gift certificate to support families in need during the holidays. You can donate through Dec. 24. You will be issued a receipt for tax deduction purposes will be issued immediately. Easy-peasy, you can pick one up while you do your grocery shopping.

Red Bags

The second giving opportunity I am borrowing from Quest Community Church, which is just off Reynolds Rd. behind Meijer at 410 Sporting Court

This year they are trying to provide Red Bags filled with gifts for 575 school kids in Lexington and 125 for school kids in Frankfort and they need your help.

Just stop by the Red Bag Store in the Atrium of the church to purchase a Red Bag for $5 and fill it with $20 worth of gifts. Fill the bag with unwrapped, new toys and return it to Quest by midnight on December 15.

See their website for a list of gift suggestions for your child: Red Bags

Want to help more? Stop by on Dec. 15 from 3 p.m. to midnight for a gift wrapping party.

  1. We had her choose things to donate. It was a tough thing to explain. Why are there poor children without toys or clothes, doesn't Santa visit them. Super cute basket. Would be swell for my bathroom reading material.
