GIVEAWAY
When
my children were younger I would buy a new Christmas book every year and we
would read it for the first time on Christmas Eve. Now that they are in their
teens (and older!), I still pull out our big pile of Christmas books at the
holidays and they still go back and read their favorites.
So
I thought today’s giveaway should be all about Christmas books. I’m going to
give one lucky reader 4 brand new Christmas books.
The
first is “Santa!” a Scanimation picture book by Rufus Butler Seder. It’s a
board book for very young kids and features “moving” pictures that show Santa
skating, flipping, hula-hooping and even doing cartwheels. The book is by
Workman Publishing and you can find it at most bookstores. It retails for
$14.95 and Amazon has it for $10.76 right now. Here’s the Amazon link Scanimation
The
second book is “Santa Claus, All About Me, By Me” compiled by J.J. Atkinson.
This is for older kids, and it is a wonderful compilation of facts, stories and
legends about Santa Claus. It’s very interactive, with pop-up features and
beautiful illustrations.
From
the back cover: Drawn from his previously
unpublished private diaries, the secret life of Santa is revealed with these
festive anecdotes from over the centuries. Readers will discover the truth
about where Santa Claus lives, how he manages the elves in his gift workshops
at the North Pole, how the good saint’s outfits have changed over the years,
and that his favorite treat is a bag of Snowmints. With this ultimate
Christmas gift book filled with artwork of Father Christmas, readers will
delight in the secrets and surprises, including a pop-up snowflake, festive
seasonal recipes, and even a silver sixpence.
It
retails for $34.95 and Amazon has is for $25.41 right now. Here’s the link:All About Me
The
illustration in “The Message of the Birds” by Kate Westerlund and and
illustrated by Feridun Oral are simply gorgeous. The book tells of the story of
the birds who want to bring the message of peace to the world and they find
that the children are the ones who will listen and understand.
The
book is published by Minedition and retails for $16.99. Amazon has it for
$10.74 right now. Here is the link: Message of the Birds
The
last book I have today is “The Gift of the Magi” by O. Henry and illustrated by
Sonja Danowski. This one always brings me to tears. It’s the story of a young
couple in love who each make a sacrifice to buy the other a gift at Christmas. This
book is the perfect anecdote to the “gimmees” that often infect kids at the
holidays. This edition has very lovely illustrations.
The
book is published by Minedition and retails for $17.99 but Amazon has it for
$13.86 right now. Here’s the link: Gift of the Magi Hardcover
You
can also get the Kindle edition of O. Henry’s original story for free at
Amazon.
