Welcome
to Day 1 of our “12 Days of Giving” here on the “More from Lexington Family”
blog.
Here’s
how it works. Every day from now until December 13 we will feature a different
giveaway here on the blog and we’ll also give your family a great idea for giving
back in our community.
All
you have to do is use the Rafflecopter widget to enter the giveaway. You can
earn more than one entry for each giveaway. Just scroll down to the end of the post to enter.
We’ll
start the giveaways at noon each day, and it will end at noon the following day. We will announce the winner at 9 a.m.
the day after that. Prizes will be available at the Lexington Family office at 138 E.
Reynolds Rd., Ste 201. Gift card prizes can be mailed, but larger prizes must
be picked up.
GIVEAWAY
Our
first prize is a doozy – a $100 Gift Certificate from the amazing Blossom
Maternity, Infant and Child store.
You’ve
seen their clothes on our covers for months:
Check
out Anna Reese in the cutest Christmas outfit: Jan Issue
Eli
in great layering pieces: Nov. issue
Blossom
just moved to a larger, new location on Main St. near Clay Ave.
In
addition to gorgeous infant and kids clothes and shoes, Blossom also has a
large collection of styling maternity clothes, accessories for mom and tots,
and wonderful baby shower gifts.
One
of my favorites is the custom-made gown for delivery day. Who wants to be
wearing one of those awful hospital gowns on the most important day of your
life?

Day 1: GIVING BACK IDEAS
The
first place that needs your help this Christmas is The Nest, a center for
Women, Children and Families provides free counseling, parent education,
emergency childcare, and basic supplies for families in crisis.
Right
now The Next is looking for volunteers to help with the Reindeer Express a gift
giveaway that will provide Christmas presents for children 5 and under.
Donations such as new toys, coats, and cash should be brought to The Nest by
Dec. 13. Community groups are welcome to participate and donations accepted
Monday-Friday, 6:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
A
great way to get your kids involved with the Reindeer Express is through two
special workshops being held by Newton’s Attic.
Newton's
Attic, with generous support from Home Depot, will lead a toy build to donate
to families in need through The Nest Center for Women, Children & Families.
You
and your kids can build simple wooden toys such as Yo-Yos, jig saw puzzles,
Cracker Barrel puzzles, rubber band guns, marble mazes and other age
appropriate items. Home Depot will supply the materials, and Newton’s Attic
will supply the work space, tools and toy-build instructions.
All
they need are elves to help make and decorate the toys. If you and your kids can
follow simple build instructions or have an artistic flair for decoration,
please join them Sunday, December 8th anytime between 1:00 and 6:00 PM and/or
Wednesday, December 11th from 6:00 to 9:00 PM. The toys will be distributed at The Nest on December 13th.
If
you’d like to help out let Dawn at Newton’s Attic know by dropping her an
e-mail at newtonsattic@gmail.com.
That is awesome. Looking forward to hear from you guys.. Thanks. Happy holiday.

My family started volunteering for Angel Tree last year at The Salvation Army.
ReplyDeleteMy family and I will be getting to give a red bag during the Joy Project at Quest Community Church to children who usually do not have a Christmas and it honestly a joy to serve the children and their families.
ReplyDeleteTo help less fortunate families, we have done shoeboxes for Operation Christmas Child, chosen children to buy for through the Angel Tree program, and participated in an Angel Tree-like program through my workplace.
ReplyDeleteMy family and I always do the food Angel at Kroger's and The Angel Tree.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Newton's Attic, love that place.
ReplyDeleteThis year we did 3 shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Children. All 3 of my kiddos wanted to do their own. They filled them on their own. They were super excited and it was joyous to watch them!: )
ReplyDeleteWe always make a box for Operation Christmas Child and sponor children on the Angel Tree locally.
ReplyDeleteWe always sponsor a family through the Angel Tree Program
ReplyDeleteWe purchase Angel tree gifts and clean out toys for the Salvation Army
ReplyDeleteMy kids donate their toys year round, but save their nicest ones to donate to those in need during Christmastime.
ReplyDeleteWe do a Santa Sack at our house: my girl's go through their nicer toys and pack them up in a big red sack. The sack gets left for Santa to take, and he brings those toys to kids who "may have not had the chance to write him a letter, but deserve a gift nonetheless."
